Course Description:
NO LIVE AMMUNITION ALLOWED IN THE CLASS ROOM!!!
Course Description:  This course includes both formal classroom and a hands-on practical portion conducted at an indoor range under the supervision of an NRA certified instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience. Youth may attend the course, however maturity as well as age is a factor in determining entrance into the course.  Contact the instructor for additional information concerning students under 18 years of age.  Students will receive the NRA Basic’s of Pistol Shooting course packet.  You do not need to be an NRA member to take this course.  Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance.   I suggest that each student bring a pen/pencil, two different colors of highlighter, and paper to take notes.  Also if you have a favorite pistol, bring it (with ammo) for the qualification phase.  Any caliber, up to .45 cal, but no magnums.  I suggest using a .22 cal pistol.  If you do not own a pistol, I can provide one with ammo for no additional charge.  Ear and eye protection is required on the range.  If you do not own these items, I can provide them and no additional charge.  There will be “COFFEE and CARBS” in the classroom prior to the start of the instruction.  You are on your own for lunch and any snacks/drinks that you want.  There will be up to one hour break for lunch.  There is a refrigerator in the classroom if you wish to bring a lunch.  There will be regular breaks during instruction, approximately every 50 minutes.
Additional Student Information:  Pregnant women and nursing mothers are advised to consult a physician prior to attending this course due to lead and other inherit contamination material associated with ammunition/cleaning supplies.
Physical Limitations and Disabilities:  The presence of a physical disability does not by itself affect a student’s eligibility to attend the course or receive a completion certificate.  The NRA Adaptive Shooting Program allows instructors to adapt the live fire shooting positions to work within each student’s range of ability.  Regardless of ability, all students MUST demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to receive a course completion certificate.  Contact the instructor for additional information or if you have questions or concerns.
Prerequisites:  A good attitude and a willingness to learn
